Momentum, a new European high-level cancer conference

Europe has a unique opportunity to strengthen its leadership in cancer research and innovation. Yet despite world-class science and ambitious strategies, too many patients still wait too long to benefit from scientific progress.

To overcome this challenge, we need more spaces where people across sectors can move beyond discussion and work together on concrete solutions. This is the idea behind Momentum, a new European high-level conference that we at EACS are a proud partner of.

Designed as a working conference rather than a traditional summit, Momentum focuses not only on dialogue, but also on collaboration, shared priorities and concrete ways to accelerate the translation of cancer research into innovation, implementation and patient benefit.

Momentum will bring together scientific leaders, policymakers, healthcare experts, patient representatives and innovators from across Europe.

Among confirmed speakers are:

  • Elisabete Weiderpass, Director General, International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC)
  • Joanna Drake, Deputy Director-General: Planet, People and Science for Policy, Directorate-General for Research and Innovation, European Commission
  • Mihaela van der Schaar, Professor of Machine Learning, AI, and Medicine Director, John Humphrey Plummer Professor of Machine Learning, AI Medicine Director, Cambridge Center for AI in Medicine University of Cambridge

Over three days in Stockholm, participants will engage in roundtables, discussions and collaborative sessions focused on identifying barriers, opportunities and practical ways forward for the future of cancer research and life science in Europe.

We look forward to joining the discussions in Stockholm on 14–16 October 2026 and contributing to this important initiative.
