Prof. Michael Baumann

President
Professor Michael Baumann is president of EACS since 2023. He is Scientific Director and Chair of the Management Board of the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. He also acts as spokesperson of the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK) and of the National Center for Tumor Diseases (NCT) as well as co-chairman of the Strategy Committee of the German National Decade against Cancer. He is one of the key leaders in the establishment of the National Cancer Prevention Center (NCPC).
Michael Baumann is a radiation oncologist who pursued the integration of new biological findings with advanced technologies in radiation therapy for personalized treatment strategies.
Michael Baumann has been honored with numerous scientific awards including the Röntgen Medal, the German Cancer Award and the Regaud Award. He is member of the German National Academy of Science (Leopoldina) as well as past president of the German and the European Societies for Radiotherapy and Oncology (DEGRO and ESTRO) and the European Cancer Organization (ECCO). Moreover, Michael Baumann is editor-in-chief of the journal “Radiotherapy & Oncology”.
